Hi all.
I just wanted to tell you about some free scripts available for cakewalk sonar.
You can find them at www.jsonar.org
I started using sonar with these scripts last week and i am very happy with them.
They have got scripts for versions 4 and 5 oficial and for version 6 in beta but soon to be released as oficial release.
I use sonar producer edition version 5.2 with jaws 6.2.
So if you plann to use sonar check them out.
I would like to see comments from people who also use Jsonar and also comparisons between caketalking and Jsonar.
CT is quite sluggish in comparison, but Pinto's made some improvements on that score--or, at least, some attempts. Also, JSonar provides reliable scrubbing through its control surface plugin. Now, sonar's scrubbing sucks, but it's something caketalking doesn't include, lest it's been added in version six.
Personally, JSonar all the way. You don't get the documentation; but I find it quite badly written for the price, anyway. But if you need that additional guidance, CT is advantagious.
Another JSonar plus: The scripts follow Sonar's natural keyboard shortcuts in regards to arming, muting, soloing, etc. I don't know about any of you, but I sure don't wanna sit there remembering: well, now, how many times do I press enter in order to arm this damn track?
I've used JSonar before it was called JSonar. Lol! It's good stuff!
Oh man, Jesse, you're talking in the days of, "the jaws scripts for sonar," or thereabouts. It's much, much better now, fully on apar with cakeTalking, and changing/improving all the while. Not that you use windows for production or anything...
Thanks for the feedback.
The documentation seams to be their only problem at Jsonar. As i never used sonar before i wouldn't have a clue how to use it on my own but fortunately i knew some people from university who also use it and they helped me to get started so this wasn't a problem.
Now i am using the oficial release of the scripts for sonar 5. These have been released on the 29th of October 2006. But in the daly snapshots there is another version 5 since January 2007. Is it any better than the one i already use or shall i stick with the oficial one?
I haven't actually looked for myself, but IIRC, the new changes simply exist to integrate hotSpotClicker into the JSonar environment. In short, it's a means of providing accessibility to other plugins that don't work so well out of the box. For more information about hotspotClicker, check out www.hotspotclicker.org.
There might be other changes of substance included too, so my advice would be to browse through the svn change log for the snapshot you want, or view the provided ReadMe.
Also, sonar has an excellent help system that should be more than enough to get you up and running, or free you from some potential bit of trouble.
Hi again.
I tried to read the sonar help file the other day but after choosing the topick i wanted to read i pressed enter and f6 to read its text but nothing happened. It stays in the topick list. Is there a different key to press for sonar help?
Thanks
